Who Are We?

DePaul South Asian Students Association has been the primary South Asian organization at DePaul University in Chicago since 2001. We're open to people of all faiths and cultures, while our focus is on promoting South Asian awareness to our students, faculty, alumni, and the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Through the promotion of our social and cultural events we encourage the gathering of students to share their South Asian heritage. We also incorporate several local and national charities into our events and/or participate in community service to employ our students to help change the world as responsible leaders. Mission

The purpose of South Asian Students Association shall ultimately be to cultivate leaders who will strive to maximize the potential, increase the awareness, and preserve the legacy of all South Asians.  This purpose will be achieved by not only raising awareness of social, political, and cultural issues relevant to South Asians, but by also providing the opportunity to actively address these issues.  The efforts of this organization shall be inclusive to all within the DePaul community.

Tell me about your Show?

Each year, DePaul SASA puts on their annual "CULTURAL SHOW" that embraces the very cultures of the 8 South Asian countries we represent; Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan. The show takes several months of planning by SASA's E-Board and the Show Chairs, to bring you a breathtaking display of South Asian Culture through the eyes of our students. We have both traditional (Bhangra and Garba/Raas) and modern (Hip-Hop and Fusion) dances; along with skits, instrumental performances, bands, singing, a fashion show and much much more!
